Hey guys! It’s almost Christmas! Can you believe it?? I know I sure can’t.. this whole year has been a whirlwind, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that it’s almost over. I can however, wrap my mouth around these Cranberry Orange White Chocolate Chip Cookies and not stop (believe me, I tried stopping).

Cranberry Orange White Chocolate Chip Cookies with glaze drizzle

These are my favorite Christmas cookies and honestly I’ve never made then on my own, now I think it’s because I’m too afraid to have a whole batch in my house! I used to make these around Christmas with my Mom and sister as a teenager, then I left home and then the whole gluten thing happened and I was afraid that a GF version just wouldn’t be as good or nearly what I remembered.

Well, I was wrong (happens a lot folks!) and I’ve never been happier about it! Not only were these all that I remembered and more, but you definitely can’t tell they are gluten free (as is the aim with all of my cooking). The texture is perfect and the flavors and colors just scream CHRISTMAS!

On top of all that fabulous news, these cookies freeze perfectly. I threw a batch of them in the freezer after they were fully prepared (glaze and all) and all they needed was about 30 minutes on the counter at room temp and they were ready to devour. I always love that because it keeps me from over indulging (too much) and I get to stretch out enjoying all my holiday favorites. Happy holidays my sweet readers!! Xoxoxo

Cookies:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 Tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 2 Tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour (gluten free option here, I used Better Batter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries, coarsely chopped then measured
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • ~2 Tablespoons orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF.
  2. In a medium bowl mix flour, baking soda and salt to combine then set aside.
  3. In a the bowl of your stand mixer or a large bowl with an electric mixer beat sugars and butter until light and fluffy (~2 minutes). Add orange peel and orange juice beating until combined. Next, add egg, again beating until combined. Add flour mixture beating on low until just incorporated. Fold in cranberries and white chocolate chips.
  4. Drop cookie dough by the rounded spoonful (I did ~1.5 oz cookies for the perfectionists out there), spacing 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake in preheated oven until bottoms and edges start to turn golden brown (~12-14 minutes). Remove to cooling rack and allow to sit on cookie sheet for several minutes before removing to cool completely.
  6. When cookies are cooled, combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over top of cookies.
