To me, some of the best foods ever are very simple; the right combination of good ingredients can be an amazing thing. Take this appetizer for example, it’s a handful of common ingredients and takes about 10 minutes to throw together but the end result is amazing. I think people tend to get hung up on the idea that good food has to be slaved over un the kitchen for hours, and while I have eaten many amazing things that was true for, don’t take the simple recipes for granted.

Apple, Brie & Honey Crostini
This beautiful, addicting app is my new favorite thing, it’s great for holiday parties or anytime you may be hosting and need a little extra time to pull things together. Your guests will be in awe at how delicious these are, then if you share the recipe they will be really shocked at how brilliantly simple it is. And as a plus, this is easily converted to gluten free by simply swapping out the baguette, Udi’s makes one that is readily available at a ton of grocers and while small, it is good bread (as far as gluten free bread is concerned at least). So take a load of your entertaining plans, with this easy app you may just get to spend some time with your guests!

Apple, Brie & Honey Crostini

Apple, Brie & Honey Crostini   (Print Me)

Ingredients:
1 baguette, cut into 1/2 inch slices (I used gluten free Udi’s)
Apple butter
6 oz brie, thinnly sliced
2 large apples
Squeeze fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup pecans, toasted
Honey, to serve

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375ºF. Place baguette slices on large, ungreased cookie sheet then top each slice with about 1 tsp apple butter then top wth brie slices.

Place prepared crostini in preheated oven and bake for about 5-7 minutes or until just melted. Meanwhile, wash and cut apples into thin slices then toss in fresh lemon juice to keep from browning.

When brie is melted, remove crostini from oven and top with apple slices and pecans then drizzle with honey. Serve immediately.
